Spring RegistrationEach year all students register for classes for the upcoming school year. Initially, Professional School Counselors meet with students. Student select courses via the link with the Counselors. Then, the Magnet Coordinator follows up with magnet students to review magnet appropriate requirements and options for the coming years. During 2nd semester, Counselors continue to work with those course requests to schedule the classes for each grade level, for each pathway, and for graduation requirements. Students must continue to answer emails and attend requested counselor meetings in order learn more about how their schedules are developing, and which new advanced electives they may be able to take. While every effort is made to coordinate all preferred classes, staffing numbers, schedule conflicts, new course offerings, course requirements, and class sizes affect what is finally offered for the coming year. All Magnet students are required to take Advanced Mathematics, Advanced Science and the grade level PLTW courses offered for that year. Additionally, advanced electives are paired with pathways to enhance the expand the learning applications related to the students' interests in coursework, college, and potential careers. Elective offers are based on availability each, and each year we work to expand the options available to Huskies. PLTW is part of Career Technology Education (CTE). Coherent sequences and course recommendations are also based on the CTE Programs of Study found on the TEA website. |
